Bob’s photos of Dave Brubeck and Paul Desmond were some of the first, if not the first musician photos used as album covers, thanks to Max & Sol Weiss of Fantasy Records. Bob agreed to be paid “in kind” from the Fantasy catalog thinking his reward would be Jazz records. It turned out to be a hundredweight of Chinese Opera.
