Brother Antoninus (William Everson) lived from 1912-1994. This famous California poet wrote fifty volumes of poetry and was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and a Guggenheim Fellowship, among other accolades. He was occasionally referred to as the “Beat Friar.”
